Travellers Book 3 The Kimtoa Bequest

June 11, - Published on Amazon. This is a fantastic series. Its a space faring sci-fi story, with a deep sense of swashbuckling adventure and romance straight out of the age of sail. The notions in this book of how mass space expansion would affect humanity by giving every group a place to belong, as well as the political and social isolation that the stars bring, allow for an interesting mix of old and new traditions on each world.

It sort of feels like Firefly, the 3 Musketeers, and Treasure Island all at once. This will definitely be a series I'll reread many times. August 20, - Published on Amazon. I couldn't even finish the first book. A space faring far future where everyone's main weapon is a sword? Mr Kidd couldn't get away from his Dungeon and Dragons writing.

Travellers Book 3 The Kimtoa Bequest

He even includes "Drow" in this story. There isn't a single main character I could identify with in this drivel seeing as they are all homosexuals. That isn't an exageration every single hero and heroin is gay, even the AI computer I suspect. Kidd tries to sell the lesbian love story way too much to the point where the reader is left saying "enough already theres not even any good sex sceenes".

So if your looking for a good Traveller RPG based story but are not a homosexual, or on board with the "gay agenda", or a fan of Drow, or don't think everyone in the far future is going to be using swords as their main defense, then move on or you will feel cheated and intellectually insulted. If the oposite is true then by all means, move on, its simply not a good book. This is my first Paul Kidd book I almost read all the way through, and it is my last. It is nothing like Firefly, but is a little bit like a gay pride treasure island.

March 24, - Published on Amazon. Unfortunately this didn't last. Unlike some other readers, the homosexual angles didn't bother me.

It did seem odd that all 3 major characters were of that lifestyle, but certainly not a deal breaker for me. I was disappointed in the lack of the Traveller setting Spinward Marches, etc. Again, I could live with this.

Paul Kidd | Revolvy

The general tech in use was pretty faithful to the original game, and it did have a lot of use of melee weapons on shipboard I even enjoyed the homage to Mark Miller Traveller's creator later in the book.
